Control Resonant Mapping the New New York Walkthrough

Updated Oct 6, 2026 · 14 min read

How to start Mapping the New New York, where each district beacon and sensor sits, and what to do after the map is revealed.

Talk to the worker beside the first cartography beacon during Welcome to Manhattan. Activate beacons and their sensors in each district to reveal that area on the map.

Objectives

Not yet verified: Mission steps, rewards, and locations below are adapted from VGTimes side-story coverage (September 2026). Confirm names and objectives in your own save—patches can change routes.

  • Start the side story at the first cartography beacon.
  • Activate the district beacon, then find that district’s sensors.
  • Reveal each new district as soon as you enter it so later side stories have usable markers.

Where to Go

The quest starts during Welcome to Manhattan. Talk to the worker beside the first cartography beacon. Beacons are spread across Manhattan; activating each one reveals that district.

Tip

Antennas on larger beacons point toward sensors. Most sensors blink a faint red—pause and scan rooftops instead of sprinting.

Step-by-Step

Downtown

  • Beacon: rooftop south of the Oldest House exit. Use the freight elevator. Worker Thorne stands beside the beacon—talk to him.
  • Sensor 1: slightly north of the beacon; look for the “Speed You Can Trust” sign.
  • Sensor 2: northeast, beside a small rusted water tower; nearby green table and three floodlights.
  • Sensor 3: southeast on a fenced rooftop basketball court. Activate the fast travel door here.

Central

  • Beacon: top of an orange office container west of the main plaza, north of the Downtown checkpoint.
  • Sensor 1: slightly north, on a blue container roof.
  • Sensor 2: northeast, on an orange container near the Verconn building entrance.
  • Sensor 3: east, on an isolated blue container beside a pile of yellow spheres.

Evacuation Zone, West Incursion, Park, Underpass, Unknown

The remaining districts follow the same beacon-then-sensors pattern. Full per-district notes also live on the side stories hub and the map kit location guide.

Enemies/Puzzles

The Park lists high-level enemies and heavy mold—reveal the map and leave if you are under-leveled. Underpass has Screechers around the beacon pillars; clear them before collecting sensors. Unknown uses Pope supply orbs and Shift platforms to reach the beacon floor.

Rewards

Revealing a district on the map is the practical reward: later photo hunts and testing-facility markers are much easier to follow. Exact item drops for finishing the quest are Unverified on this page.

What Happens Next

Reveal each district as you enter it, then continue Welcome to Manhattan. Mapping early helps Unsupervised Science and Freeze Frame.
