Crossing the Threshold Walkthrough
Side mission: Crossing the Threshold
Crossing the Threshold is one of the more gruesome side stories in Control Resonant, so prepare for a bit of gore and possible jump scares if you want to complete it. The reward is well worth your time and effort, and it doesn’t actually require much effort, containing only one large combat encounter. Here’s how it all works.

How to Complete Crossing the Threshold

Every bit of Crossing the Threshold takes place in Central, near the Field Office. You’ll spend most of your time around it investigating various clues, though the ending and one of the possible starting points is more out in the wilds.
Crossing the Threshold also has multiple possible endings, though your reward for completing the story doesn’t change. We’ll list the different choices you can make and what they lead to, but pick whichever feels best to you. You’ll receive the same items at the end, regardless.
How to Start Crossing the Threshold

There are two ways to start Crossing the Threshold. The first is to find a headless body northwest of the Field Office.

You’re looking for a closed garage door next to a blinking red light. The red light is a control box you can destroy to open the door, behind which lies the body. Repot the body to Zoe to start the quest this way.

The other way to start Crossing the Threshold is to wait until after Dr. Florez joins the team at the Field Office following the Power Lines main story quest. You can speak to here there for a report of a headless body in the Field Hospital, one separate from the one you find behind the door at the loading docks.
Which starting point you go with will decide the order and the number of quest steps you’ll need to take. As such, we’ll list them in the order you can encounter them, and we’ll note the fastest route at the beginning.
How to Investigate the Dig Site Threshold
The Dig Site Threshold is north of the field office. The fastest way to reach it is to head north the street east of the Field Office.

Turn left at the end of the road, then look for an orange-lit passage on the north side of the street.

You’ll shortly reach the Threshold research outpost. You’ll need to report a dead body at ground level. After speaking to Zoe about the dead body, pick up the access card, then use it to unlock the orange container office marked TE.

Pick up the recording device in the office and listen (or skip) the dialog on it, and Dylan will mention that a Wilson was mentioned and accused of murder.
Shortly after that conversation, Zoe will call you saying someone spotted Wilson at a warehouse in northern Central.
If you want to complete Crossing the Threshold quickly, don’t do any more of the steps, instead going to see Wilson himself. Use this link to reach the warehouse section of the quest if you’d rather finish things quickly:

If you want the full story, however, you’ll need to complete the remaining steps.
How to Investigate the Loading Docks

For this step, you’ll need to go to the loading docks where you found the headless body behind the garage door.
Once there, you can report the CCTV camera in the corner of the garage, which will prompt Zoe to lead you to the security station where the recordings are held.
How to Find the CCTV Footage

Return to the main Field Office square in front of the Verconn building and head into the second-floor orange container office there.

You’ll find a computer at the northeast corner where you can view the security footage. Use the Next Screen option once, then watch the footage. It’s…not pretty.
How to Investigate the Field Hospital

The Field Hospital is on the second floor of the container offices just outside the Verconn building. Inside, you’ll find another headless body.
You can start this quest either by progressing Crossing the Threshold until directed there by the recording at the Dig Site or by hearing about it from Dr. Florez.

In either case, you’ll need to find the codes for a locked cabinet next to the room with the headless body. Zoe will direct you back to the Security Station, where they’re held.

At the Security Station, interact with yet another computer, this one closer to the door. Select “Next Screen” twice to gain the code (0665), allowing you to open the cabinet. You don’t need to actually remember the code, as Dylan will open the cabinet automatically once you have it.
There’s a report in the cabinet you can read, and once you do, Dylan and Zoe will have a brief conversation. Meeting Wilson at the warehouse is the final step.
Where to Find Wilson at the Warehouse

The Warehouse where you find Wilson is north of the Field Office. There are a couple ways to reach it if you haven’t unlocked access to the northern portion of Central.

The first is to use a Reach Point on the wall of the Verconn Building in the northeast Field Office. Stand on the orange container offices near the map sensor to see it. This is provided you’ve unlocked Reach via the Evacuation Zone Fault.

The other main way to northern Central is via a level 01 security door northeast of the Field Office.

The Warehouse itself is along the main east-to-west street north of the Field Office. The door is along that road, as well, west of the main intersection.
Once you enter the Warehouse a horde of Hiss will spawn. Clear them, then go the door at te northwest end of the factory.

To get the “good” ending to the side story, give the following responses to Wilson as you talk to him:
- What do you mean?
- Either “You may be sick” or “ I saw something on CCTV”
- Calm down, I believe you
- I’ll take him
Go that route and Dylan can act as a host to the Threshold entity AVP-3, and can escort it back to the Dig Site Threshold, where you can send it back to its home dimension.

If you antagonize Wilson by accusing him of murder or some other dialog path, he’ll become angry and run off. In this case, you’ll find his headless body while standing in the Threshold.

Choosing to return AVP-3 to its home will open up one final dialog option: lie to Zoe to keep Wilson’s experience a secret or tell her he’s lying about being sick. In the former case, the Dig Site is shut down and Wilson isn’t liable to face significant consequences beyond a possible lifetime of containment and research. In the latter, Wilson risks being fired (at a minimum), but you probably saved him from that lifetime of containment in the Oldest House.
No matter how you finish the quest, you’ll receive the Untapped Practice Knot artifact, which, when active and equipped, adds 15% extra Falter to attacks made against Heavy enemies. Your other prize is the Sensory Restraint Hood head piece cosmetic.
