After The Hedron Link in late Act II, these three unlock together. Finish Zoe’s Briefing at the Lookout Tower first; that opens New Growth and Maintenance Protocol.

Lookout Tower in Central for Zoe. New Growth: Dr. Underhill’s apartment and underground lab. Maintenance Protocol: auto-starts during Zoe’s briefing after an alarm; nearest fast travel is Deepest Underpass, then Underpass 5.

Step-by-Step

Zoe’s Briefing

  • Return to the Lookout Tower in Central and talk to Zoe.
  • This conversation unlocks Maintenance Protocol and New Growth. No other reward is listed.

New Growth

  • Find Dr. Underhill in her apartment; in the underground lab collect mold growth stimulant and test tubes.
  • Apply stimulant to pulsing mold growth and follow glowing spore trails.
  • Collect samples from three escaped test subjects.
  • Final choice: take the samples for Untapped Brass Dusters weapon form (confirm in The Gap).

Maintenance Protocol

  • Go to Underpass 5. Intercom Morse for “in”: dot, dot, dash.
  • Watch the projector video, then fix the switchboard. Strength upgrade is in the upper-right room.
  • Repair bulbs in any order: Volatile (east of Halfway Trail), Electrosensitive (below Research Stations—remove nearby power sources first), Plant-fearing (island north of Research Site—clear mold).
  • Finale: return to the projector, enter the slide, then: Where are you going? → Unstable bulb → Do you know how to get out? → Smash the bulb.

Enemies/Puzzles

New Growth is a mold-trail and sample hunt. Maintenance Protocol is Morse, projector, switchboard, and three themed bulbs. Combat around Underpass depends on what is spawned when you arrive—no extra named boss is listed for these three stories.

Rewards

  • Zoe’s Briefing: unlocks the other two stories.
  • New Growth: Untapped Brass Dusters weapon form if you take the samples; VGTimes also ties full Carbon Copy plus New Growth to Budding Mycologist.
